Jeffrey T. Neilson is a founding shareholder of Neilson Law Group and a respected figure in Michigan’s legal community, recognized for his vision, depth of knowledge, and decades of leadership.
He served for more than 40 years as President and Managing Shareholder of Lipson Neilson P.C., where he helped shape the firm’s national presence and mentored generations of attorneys. In 2025, he co-founded Neilson Law Group to continue that legacy with a renewed focus on family law and fiduciary matters.
Jeff’s legal career reflects an extraordinary command of estate planning and administration, probate litigation, corporate law, tax controversy, election law, and professional liability defense. He is also a trained mediator in these practice areas. His expertise has established him as a trusted advisor to families, companies, entrepreneurs, and institutions alike.
He holds an A.B. from the University of Michigan, a J.D. from the University of Detroit, an LL.M. in Taxation from NYU, and is a Registered CPA. He also serves as Chairman of the Board of the New Common School Foundation and counsels other non-profit entities, reflecting his profound commitment to the power of thoughtful, ethical legal guidance.
